It is essential to remember that CAD can only be transferred to a valid Canadian bank account located within Canada.
When adding a CAD recipient, you will need the following information ready:
- Recipient's full name;
- 3-digit bank institution number;
- 5-digit transit number;
- 7- to 12-digit account number.
Important note: If the first 5 digits of the account number match the transit number, do not include them in the account number field.
If you're having trouble entering your recipient's bank account information for a transfer, here are some tips:
Use a physical check
Banks often omit necessary digits on online statements, so it's best to use a physical check to find the correct information.
Find the transit number
The transit number is the 5-digit number between the ⑆ and ⑉ symbols on a check.
If the transit number is less than five digits, consider adding zeros to the beginning.
Find the account number
The account number follows the transit and institution numbers on a check (it comes after the ⑆ symbol and before the ⑈ symbol).
The account number may be broken up by symbols, you should enter the full number without any dashes, spaces, or additional zeros.
Contact the recipient bank
If you don't have a check, contact the recipient bank directly for assistance.
Please note the following:
The recipient bank may charge a fee for processing incoming transfers. We recommend contacting them directly to confirm if this is the case.
